Sheet transposes a plastic sheet found in the Untersberg quarry into Untersberg marble. The sheet was scanned, digitally modelled and enlarged before being carved in marble. Two pieces of metal waste, also recovered from the quarry, are embedded within the sculpture, as if preserved in a geological process.

The title Sheet refers both to the plastic sheet and to geological strata. The sculpture brings together two forms of matter and two different temporalities: contemporary waste and rock formed over geological timescales.

The metal inclusions create openings that run through the sculpture, allowing the viewer to look into and through its mass, like boreholes providing access to its interior. Between plastic sheet, landscape and geological fragment, Sheet transposes a found object from its original environment and gives it a new presence in space through a shift in scale and its mineral materiality.
