Balise transposes into Ticino marble the form of a concrete block normally used for basement ventilation.
The sculpture reveals the sensory and sculptural qualities of a functional element that usually remains invisible in the urban environment. The marble, carrying a long sculptural tradition, brings out the aesthetic dimension of this technical object. Derived from the banality of infrastructure, the volume becomes a silent ornamental marker.
The geometric mass opens onto a shaped interior composed of folds and cavities — mineral entrails. The form suggests an autonomous presence and an inner space belonging to a structure that nevertheless originates in engineering.
